Chinese herbs used at Vermont Chinese Acupuncture are mainly found in formulas in the form of pills or tablets. Vermont Chinese Acupuncture only purchases herbs from reputable American companies who oversee production outside of the People’s Republic. The herbs used at Vermont Chinese Acupuncture are a safe complement or alternative to drugs.
The use of Chinese herbs can stand-alone or they can be used together with acupuncture and Chinese medical massage. Although I do not recommend stopping medications, I do encourage people to periodically evaluate their medications with their physician and when appropriate, look for herbal alternatives. A great example is the problem with the overuse of antibiotics. Herbs (as well as essential oils) have antibiotic and antiseptic qualities as well as boosting the immune system. Other common uses of herbal therapy at Vermont Chinese Acupuncture are for digestive problems, calming, and insomnia and for menstrual problems. I.e. painful periods and hot flashes.
